Paris in April

My birthday celebration continued with a little trip to Paris with all it’s fabulous cuisine, art and shopping. OK, so I didn’t really go to Paris but my soul did. My husband and I had a wonder day which started at Bistro Moderne. My husband was going to surprise me with this treat but always knowing where the best bakeries are I scoped it out first. We enjoyed the most delectable bread basket and quiche. The mango jam was extraordinary and I don’t think I will be eating baked goods from anywhere else for a long time.
Then we went to the ICP to see Twilight visions: Surrealism Photography and Paris. Everything from the way the photographs were framed, the colors on the walls to the actual photographs themselves were inspirational. (and fuel for this blog for many weeks to come.) I just want to go Paris soooo badly; so we made a pact that we would go on my next big birthday.
In the meantime, I am thinking about how to create a little Parisian retreat in our house. Our third floor attic room needs some love and would be a perfect get-away! First, I would use this chic wallpaper from Anthropologie. A black chandelier would be fun, c’est vrai? A daybed by the window from my one of my favorite haunts(The Paris Apartment) is necessary. And of a course a vanity to make sure my girls and I look glamorous!
Wouldn’t this be a great place for fancy dress up parties, savoring macarons and reading Madeline to my girls. One should always dream of Paris in April.

Glad you had a wonderful birthday week! That, by the way, is my dressing table – where did you find that pic?! xo

Bernadette- That vanity is from the Paris Apartment. One of my favorite haunts on the lower East Side. The owner even conducts buying trips.

Happy belated b-day–looked like you had fun
From one Francophile to another–that wallpaper is FABULOUS. If I could get away with that in my laundry room or powder bath, I’d be all over it. My non-Francophile hub wouldn’t share the love.
Heard “I love Paris in Springtime” today. Made me smile.

Hey there — i HEART Paris! Really all of France. Went to ICP last week — SO inspired to take all of my NOT GREAT photos from the last 30 years and look for strong SHAPES and CURVES. Just like that guy whose name i forget even though i was there 4 days ago.
